Stage 14: Hornillos del Camino - Castrojeriz

Hornillos has a very small population, something quite typical of many small towns in the Meseta.

Not to be missed is the Gothic parish church of San Román. The church was built over a pre-Roman castro and resembles a fortified church. However, most of the building is recent due to its complete renovation.

This stage runs mostly on good terrain between fields, and at the end, on asphalted country roads. The profile is fairly flat, with long, gentle hills and descents. The climbs will not be too difficult.

Already in the municipality of Castrojeriz we will find the Monastery of San Antón. Then we will cross the arches of an old church and continue along the road. We will reach a high point (917 m above sea level) from where we can easily descend to Castrojeriz.
